The term “steampunk” began as a reference to a subgenre of science fiction and fantasy literature that incorporated technology and designs inspired by 19th century industrial steam-powered machinery. These stories are often set in the British Victorian era or American Wild West. More recently, steampunk has extended from literature into art, fashion, and home decor. In steampunk designs, parts that are sometimes seen as junk or scrap are transformed into something new and expressive. The Jonas Collection from Elk is a perfect example of steampunk design.
